Afghanistan had never won the ACC Elite Trophy previously but were still the clear favorites to win the Trophy. And the Afghanistan Cricket Team did not disappoint as they defeated Nepal convincingly by 95 runs in the final on April 9 to win the ACC Elite Trophy 2010. Afghanistan were the clear favorites to win the ACC Elite Trophy after a very good run in the last 18 months winning nearly every big tournament they competed in which culminated with their winning the World Cup Twenty20 qualifiers where they will face the top team of international cricket. Nepal won the toss and put Afghanistan into bat. Afghanistan were struggling a bit at the start against a disciplined Nepal bowling and fielding as they were reduced to 39 runs for 3 wickets in 11.5 overs. But then they recovered to score 224 runs with good contributions by Karim Sadiq (58 runs), Raees Ahmadzai (52 runs) and Mohammad Nabi (48 runs). Nepal struggled throughout their innings as they lost quick wickets and were bundled out for only 129 runs in 40 overs as Afghanistan dazzled with an emphatic win of 95 runs. Raees Ahmadzai was adjudged the Man of the Match.
