A last minute change of minds means that Rashid Latif will not become Afghanistan’s batting coach.
According to the Cricket Post website, the decision was made due to pressure from the Afghanistan players. Kabir Khan, the coach, has already said he wanted an Australian or South African coach. This is unlikely, though, as pay and security are major obstacles in getting a coach from these countries.
The former Pakistan player, Latif was approached last month by the Afghnaistan cricket board.
Afghanistan, who have struggled in batting, will now go into the World Cricket League Division One, starting on Thursday, without a batting coach.
