MCC helped deliver the first ever girls cricket camp for girls in Afghanistan which was held in the Karte Naw District of Kabul City last weekend as per the Lords website. More than fifty girls participated in the cricket camp and there was great enthusiasm and interest from the girls as per the article. It is a new beginning too as it was the first time ever that a girls cricket camp has been organized in Afghanistan. It was help keeping in view the rapidly growing interest in cricket amongst Afghan girls. Raees Ahmadzai from the AYCSO (Afghan Youth Cricket Support Organisation) helped in organizing the camp and it was the sixth cricket camp held in Afghanistan this year as a joint venture between MCC Spirit of Cricket and Afghan Connection. Hats off to everyone and hope that they would continue their great work of fostering peace and promoting the great game of cricket. The next cricket camp might also see them teaming up with UNICEF and hope that it becomes even more successful. The day might not be far off when we would see the best of talent coming out of Afghanistan from both genders. Best of luck to MCC, Afghan Connection, Raees as well as the enthusiastic youngsters who are participating in these cricket camps.
