Rashid Latif also followed the footsteps of Kabir Khan as he left his position as batting coach of the Afghanistan Cricket Team. Latif had taken up the job just a month ago and he cited his inability to impose his ideas on the Afghanistan team as the reason for his resignation. The Afghanistan Cricket Board’s chief executive Hamid Shinwari accepted the resignation and also expressed his shock at a long list of new demands by Latif just 25 days after signing a contract with him. The ACB had earlier said that Rashid Latif would take over as coach of the Afghanistan cricket team after the resignation of Kabir Khan but Shinwari suggested that Latif had asked the ACB to either re-hire Khan as coach or double his own salary and increase his benefits if he were to take up the role. According to reports, ACB has now requested ICC to help them in hiring a new coach and till now three coaches including former Australian all-rounder Darren Lehmann, South African Steve Elworthy and Australian Andrew John Bichel put forward by ICC till now has been rejected due to higher compensation demands. Some reports also suggest that
Former coach and one of the founders of the Afghan cricket team, Tajik Malik might take over again as the coach of the Afghanistan Cricket Team.
