Latif pleads for Afghanistan to play Pakistan in one-day series

Will we see Shahid Afridi playing against Afghanistan?

New batting coach Rashid Latif has immediately set out to use his obvious connections with Pakistan by asking the PCB for a one-day series with Afghanistan in October.

Latif, the former Pakistan captain, believes a series would be extremely beneficial for both sides.

“Basically Afghanistan needs to be given more international exposure. Since international teams are not touring Pakistan because of security reasons, I think having a series against Afghanistan will help in changing the perception of the outside world about the security situation in the country,” he said.
He dismissed the theory that, if this series was to happen, it would be too easy for Pakistan. “I don’t think they will be pushovers if the PCB allocates them a proper series as they have an ODI status and Pakistan can also try out its young players.”
The former wicket-keeper batsman made these comments upon his return to Pakistan after coaching Afghanistan.
Meanwhile, Afghanistan have arrived in Scotland ahead of their four-day match which starts on Wednesday. The tour also includes two one-day matches.
