Afghanistan start four-day match against Kenya today

Afghanistan take on Kenya today (2 October) in the final group game of the 2009/10 Intercontinental Cup. Being played at the Nairobi Gymkhana, it will be Afghanistan’s first match since the departure of coach Kabir Khan.

Afghanistan are already in the final but a win will see them leapfrog fellow finalists Scotland to the top spot in the table. Kenya are fifth in the standings, and can only go up one place if they win.

Despite not having much to play for Kenya have picked a strong squad, including associate batsmen heavyweight Steve Tikolo, former county cricketer Ragheb Aga and the up-and-coming Seren Waters.

Meanwhile, Afghanistan have prepared for this tour, which also includes three ODIs, by winning two warm-up one-day matches against an Emirates Cricket Board XI last week in Sharjah.two warm-up one-day day-night matches against an Emirates Cricket Board XI last week.
