It was a one-man show on the final day in Nairobi, as Hamid Hassan took all of the remaining four wickets in just 8.1 overs to give Afghanistan a 167-run win and take them to the top of the Intercontinental Cup (IC) table. Afghanistan now proceed to the IC final in Dubai where they will play Scotland over five days starting from 2 December.

Resuming on 324-6 Kenya lost Ragheb Aga early on, lbw to fast bowler Hassan. The ending came soon as Hassan amazingly took three wickets in an over. First he bowled Nehemiah Odhiambo for 5; next he trapped Elijah Otieno for a duck; and then he finished it off next ball by bowling James Ngoche. Hassan, who took  11 wickets in the match, is now the leading wicket-taker in the tournament.

The teams now have a day’s rest before they begin a three-match ODI series.
