The Afghanistan cricket board has announced the squad for the World Cricket League Division One to be played in the Netherlands.
The squad is as follows:
1. Noor Ali
2. Karim Sadiq
3. Mohammad Shahzad
4. Nowrooz Mangal (C)
5. Asghar Stanakzai
6. Mohammad Nabi
7. Shabir Noori
8. Murad Ali
9. Javed Ahmadi
10. Hameed Hasan
11. Shahpoor Zadran
12. Khalid Dad Noori
13. Mirwais Ashraf (VC)
14. Aftab Alam
15. Samiullah Shinwari
Reserve players are: Noor-ul-Haq, Ezatullah, Nasratullah, Hamza Hotak.
This squad certainly has its fair share of surprises: Murad Ali (batter and wicketkeeper) and Javed Ahmadi (batter), two players who played in the Under 19 World Cup in Janaury, earn their first selection; Khalid Dad Noori (bowler) gets a recall after missing out on World T20 selection; and Dawlat Ahmadzai, who got the first wicket against India, has been strangely left out. Apart from Ahmadzai, the other big losers out of this announcement is the the wicket-keeper Shafiqullah, who has been left out the squad all together, and the spinner Nastratullah, who has been downgraded to the reserves list.
Another shock, although only with minor importance, is Mirwais Ashraf replacing Mohammad Nabi as vice-captain. There seems to be no logical reason for this unless the selectors have seen leadership qualities in Ashraf.
The ACB has said the criteria for selection is the best peformers in recent tournaments, good fitness and fielding skills, and newcomers who have performed well in the U19 World Cup.
Along with Afghanistan, Ireland, Scotland, Canada, the Netherlands and Kenya will also be competing in the 50-over World Cricket League Division One. The Afghans first game will be against Canada on July the 1st. We will have reports and analysis after every Afghanistan match on this website.

It is not fair, nobody can make decision in one game who fielded well, batted well or bowl well.
at least they should give some matches to Mirwais until they find out if he is doing well or not. It looks like there is inexperienced, none professional selectors in ACB also i think they are backing their own people and they dont choose according to experience.
I guess some players in the Afghan cricket team fancy monopolizing the whole selection process. I believe there are some players in the current team that should not have been part of the team. I have seen a couple of players, who are much better than some of the players in the team; for example, Batin Shan. In my opinion, in order to root out grouping in the team once and for all, the Afghan Cricket Board should deal with this matter severely. If the Afghan Cricket Board capitulated to the pressure from the players, the damage for cricket in Afghanistan would be immense.
For my part, I really appreciate the efforts of Mr. Aimal Shinwari. I was invariably advocating for a well-structured domestic cricket. We have seen for the first time that a well-structured domestic cricket has been put in place. We are witness that Afghan cricket has been dominated by infighting among the Afghan Cricket Federation officials, which has recently been changed to Afghan Cricket Board. This uprising against the current Cricket Board Officials may have been instigated by some of the ex-boar members.
Big Changes…….cant say anythings what will happened ahead????
