The Asian Cricket Council has released the fixtures for the cricket competition in the 16th Asian Games.
The teams are divided into four groups. Group C and D teams will have to compete among themselves first and then two from each group will qualify to play with Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka.
Afghanistan will play their match against one of the three teams in Group C on November 24th in the Guanggong Cricket Stadium in China. If they can win their quarter-final match, it is likely that Afghanistan will face Pakistan for a place in the final.
The tournament will be a useful experience for Afghanistan: not only do they have the chance to win medals for their country, but they also have a good chance of playing a ‘big’ national team.
The dates of the Asian Games means that the Intercontinental Cup final will have to be changed to another date – if Afghanistan reach the I Cup final, that is.
Group C: C1(MAS), C2 (SIN) , C3 (CHN)
Group D: D1 (NEP), D2 (HKG), D3 (MDV)
Top 2 teams of Group C and D will be qualified to play with SRI, PAK, BAN and AFG as knock out.
E: E1 (SRI), E2 (AFG), E3 (Winner of Group C), E4 (2nd place of Group C)
F: F1 (PAK), F2 (BAN), F3 (Winner of Group D), F4 (2nd place of Group D)
